Attached is the announcement of the first round of internship matching for those starting internship on July 1, 2016. This was taken from the website of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges Foundation Inc., along with this announcement:

July 1, 2016 1st Round Intern-Matching Result

The office of the National Internship Program has released the result of the July 1, 2016 1st round.

For those who have not been matched, enough application forms and the list of accredited hospitals with available slots for the SECOND ROUND of matching have been sent out to the schools. It is respectfully requested that all accomplished application forms and documents of each student or applicant pertaining to the National Internship Program be in our office not later than March 18, 2016.

If you didn’t know, most of us from PLM are required to do internship at the same hospital where we did our clerkship year, which is Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center. Right now, OM (as we like to call our home base), is undergoing a hospital-wide renovation, which means there will be no admissions or operations until the brand new hospital is ready.

I’m trying to be positive about this current arrangement, because 1) no admissions as we end our clerkship year is a very welcome surprise, and 2) an improved hospital facility is beneficial for patients and hospital staff alike. So yes – this should be good – for now.

Fast forward to July 1, 2016 and we start our internship in an empty hospital? That’s going to be a problem.

Hoping for the best!

P.S. I have a new blog post category – Intern in Charge. Hihihihi! 🙂

Let's keep the conversation going!

Wow. Thanks for responding, Aura! i’m still waiting for the results of the 2nd matching. Three of my bestfriends opted to do walk-in application in DOH and PGH, in case they don’t get accepted in OM and JRMC. DOH is welcoming walk-ins. Unfortunately, PGH has strictly prohibited walk-in applications this coming academic year and all slots have been filled up said the secretary. If I don’t get accepted in OM for 2nd matching, do you think OM would accept me as a walk-in applicant? i really hope so. 🙁

Ohh no I have friends who were planning to walk in din sa PGH! Nako nako.

I think (or at least I hope) OM will accept you. We don’t have a lot of interns e. 🙂

Hi! I heard Ospital ng Maynila is a good hospital to train in. Lots of good cases and very competitive doctors. I included it in my options for the second APMC matching. My options for the 1st matching were UST Hospital, JRMC, and Cardinal Santos MC. I didn’t get in any them though. How many slots are still available?

Yes, OM is a very good place to train in. Let me add another advantage – there are lots of clerks to do the dirty work! Hehehe 🙂 In exchange, we have to teach them and help them in their tasks, both of which are still opportunities for learning for interns. I don’t know how many slots are available for interns but so far we’re already 40-50 from our batch alone. See you!
