10 Things You Didn’t Know About Baninay Bautista (Tagalog To!)

UNA

Dear Baninay,

Una sa lahat, alam kong ayaw mong nagbabasa ng mahaba, pero for the first time e may article na tungkol sayo na sinulat ng taong may kilala talaga sayo. Kaya sana magustuhan mo to.

“Sampung Bagay Na Hindi Niyo Alam Tungkol Kay Baninay Bautista.” Naks!

PANGALAWA

Sinong makakalimot noong saktong birthday mo rin last year e naevict ka sa Bahay Ni Kuya? Hindi ata nila alam yon!

James Reid and Baninay Bautista

A greeting from James Reid! Hahahuhu.

Ang gulo kasi, yun ang una mong eviction. At dahil sa swerte mo, may dalawa pang sumunod.

Welcome back to the outside world! Repeat three times!!!!

PANGATLO

Baninay and Aura's first meeting

Omaygad! Badtrip ako nito! Kung maka-hug ka dyan! Hahaha!

Step by step tutorial pa! “First of all! Second of all!” Eh hindi nga ako umabot sa Fifth Of All! Paano ba kasi ulit yun?

PBB Blue Team Rubiks Cube

Baninay Life Before PBB

High school Baninay vlogging inside a jeep LOL

Matinde.

Baninay Bautista silver play button

Aura Baninay PBB

Ano ba kasing pabebe ginawa mo sa TV teh hahaha!!!! Love this moment.

Iba!

Lahat ng ganap pinuntahan – kahit walang kakilala, kahit walang kasama – basta “always show up!”

Lahat gagawin! Pero hindi lang “para sa vlog!”

PANG-WALO

Baninay Bautista Jollibee Crew

Napakaraming memories ng Jollibee sayo talaga! Nako kung alam nila! LOL

Ang saya mo a!

I love you bebe!! 🙂

Baninay Aura Caramoan Tugawe Cove

Hindi ka na Forever 21 kasi walang forever! Happy 22nd birthday. We’ll have so much fun this year I promise 😛

Real People, Reel World

Finally, our lucky season is over. The hype has passed. Is it okay to start talking now?

I originally wrote this post just a few weeks after I got evicted, and it’s been on draft mode ever since. It’s time!

I may no longer be as relevant at the time you are reading this, but what I personally learned and what I am about to share will always be. Especially since the show is said to be returning sooner than we all think. *Source – not so reliable.

To all fans AND haters of Pinoy Big Brother - you wouldn't know, you weren't there.

I fully understand that I agreed to be part of a show that will project me as a person with both likable AND non-likable traits. As was noted by the more discerning viewers though, in that altered reality, anything could be overly emphasized to tell a good story.

Do I sound like I’m bitterly bashing? Haha, believe me, I’m good. Here’s why.

Let me be the first to admit to you that that storytelling has worked in my favor more than once, or at least more times than it has put me in a bad light. The same is true for the other housemates.

So mad props to the real dream team for weaving together our bits and pieces, and coming up with characters that are entertaining enough for primetime, and inspiring enough to be voted, defended, and supported by loyal viewers nationwide.

What I am about then to say is only my assumption.

None Of It Was Scripted, I Swear

It appears to me that we were picked out of thousands who auditioned because our respective backgrounds and personalities fit perfectly in the CHARACTERS they wanted to project. From the start, we already had our roles in the story they wanted to tell.

Individually, we could have been portrayed as someone soft spoken or frank, goody goody or rebellious, quiet or energetic, chill or uptight, goofy or dignified – and a house full of which should naturally end up with an exciting storyline. But there’s more to us than that.

We were real people put in a reel world, to say the least.

That means if some of our actions and reactions were inconsistent with the “character” set for us, the audience will probably not see it on TV.

Here’s a more specific scenario. I was introduced as the “med student who also has a fun side”. I suppose any chance I am caught sounding intelligent ala-doktora but crazy fun with a drink in hand (six times in our season) just a few moments later – that should make it to the narrative.

That made for a very interesting story line, and I guess I don’t mind playing the part especially since a lot of other hardworking students who just want to make their families proud were able to relate. But am I really like that? Do you seriously believe I had zero fun in med school, and I had no time to chill? Luh.

Likewise, the assigned comedian of the group is not trying to be funny 24/7, nor is the resident “bitchesa” always so hard to get along with. It’s just that those parts of their personality are the ones that are most often emphasized on the final edit to elicit good reactions from the viewers. But inside the house, we had no idea what was being aired and what was not. Still, we’re all good.

You Wouldn’t Know Cos You Weren’t There

That said, of all people – only the housemates knew each other best. Even in that altered reality, we learned to get past tolerance and mere “pakikisama” and move on to become actual friends. We enjoyed each other’s company, depended on each other during tasks, and cheered for each other on our individual and group victories.

What’s crazy is how the fans have a tendency to pit one housemate against another, just because of an assumed rivalry or an ongoing tension seen on TV. We can’t blame you. It’s hard to not get carried away if there are matching sound effects and zoomed-in reaction shots of bickering and eye-rolling.

We were even forced many times to nominate each other and to pick our Big Winners, which often subjected us to misinterpretation. It is so, so hard to believe – but I honestly didn’t want anyone evicted, and I didn’t mind being evicted myself.

Chill people!! Kami sa loob masaya lang! Bakit warla kayo dyan online!
(What I really wanted to say the moment I got out LOL)

I can no longer change the way the audience were made to react during all my facepalm moments, and sometimes I feel weirdly undeserving of all the praises and compliments during my “redeeming” scenes. I admit I still cringe at myself even up to now LOL.

Nonetheless, despite all the twists and whut-whut moments that I only saw much later than all of you did (hindi man lang ako nakareact ng maayos), I had a blast! I never felt like I was being held captive even if I was there for three long months.

Over-all, it was a positive experience for me – mostly because I chose to look at it that way.

Having been a fan of the show since I was a kid, I am definitely looking forward to watching the next editions with fresh new eyes.

As future viewers (I’m just going to be a viewer now), let us always remember to just take the show for what it is – a source of entertainment, inspiration, and for a select few, a ticket to a life changed in an instant. And P.S., just because we saw it on TV, and everyone else on Twitter thinks that way, doesn’t mean it’s how it actually happened in real life.

After all, maybe the pabebe, papansin, and maldita housemates are not actually like that in real life (check the vlogs!), and everyone’s bet for Big Winner really has no idea what she’s doing, and was actually just being.. skrengge!

My PBB Audition Story

MAY 29, 2016

Here I am, talking about PBB again as if the hype hasn’t died down yet. As much as I want to move on just like everyone else (hello / goodbye haters LOL), seeing this date on the calendar triggered all sorts of emotions for me.

Hence, this window for writing is open once again. I wonder how soon I will publish this, or if will publish this at all. You have no idea how many PBB-related blog drafts I have in my computer. All I know is – I. Must. Write.

Dear Aura,

Remember that time last year when you bravely hopped on that North-bound bus at 5 am and set out for your biggest adventure yet?

Yes, it’s been more than a year since you auditioned for Pinoy Big Brother. Too bad you’re only writing this now.

Again no, what were you REALLY thinking???! One day, you’re going to ask yourself this question, and you’re going to want a more honest answer than THIS. Nice try. Now where’s the no-sh*t reason?

How To Justify Your Selfish Decisions aka Why I Joined PBB

So here’s another throwback entry, written around the time I was kind of sure I was going to be accepted in PBB. It’s pretty personal and borderline dramatic, but I’m used to it. I even love it. I love reading old entries and laughing at my then problems. I high five myself every time I am able to write a wise justification for my not-so-wise decisions.

So here it is – paragraphs worth of why I decided to allow a minor interruption, a little detour. I keep looking at it that way. I keep thinking this is how I would make “paliwanag sa presinto”.

Why I Joined PBB

Or better yet… WHAT!!? Were you thinking??

Dear Aura. If anyone asks you again, lead them to this entry. This is why you decided to join Pinoy Big Brother in the first place.

Party In The PBB House! My Honest Thoughts About Being Back

Right after the appreciation dinner, we went straight to the PBB house and had an epic thanksgiving HOUSE PARTY! In this post I’ll share to you some more exclusive pictures and videos, plus my five random and honest thoughts about being back inside the house.

1) Bakit ang daming tao!?

Having so many people talking, eating, dancing, and partying inside the house was so weird. At first I even had a heavy feeling in my chest! Deep inside I was thinking, “NOOO people you’re overwriting all the precious mental images I have of this house.” 🙁

In my mind, when I think of my PBB moments, we had that place all to ourselves. It was always just me and Kuya Jerome chopping in the kitchen, me and Baninay dancing in front of the umm altar (with the huge mirror kasi), Cora and Tanner in the corner beside the fridge (pun intended), and Wil doing yoga somewhere/anywhere.

Now my last memory of being inside the house is something like this.

It’s like forever committing to memory a loved one’s peaceful, resting face during his funeral, and him suddenly coming back to deliver a haunting message in your dreams.

I got over it eventually. Party pa rin!!! 🙂

By the way, that cool video above was created by Reggie, the same guy behind my introduction VTR! Thanks!! 🙂

Here’s another fleeting thought upon meeting some of the crew for the first time – from the story editors, audio guys, production assistants, cameramen, etcetera. These guys know us, but we don’t really know them!

I know that it was inevitable for them to feel a certain fondness (or hate!) for us housemates. They were on the lookout 24/7 and so more than Kuya, they were the ones who knew ALL about us.

While inside the house, we liked to pretend we knew the guys behind the two-way mirror. We always thought one of them had to be “Boy Report” – the guy who always tells on us so we can’t get away with violations.

Whenever any of these lines pop up on the screen..
“Cora, nasaan ang iyong lapel?”
“Bakit naliligo si Kisses? Hindi pa oras ng pagligo.”
“Housemates, mag-Tagalog.”
… Sisihin si Boy Report!! Ang aga aga! Hahaha 🙂

Another one was probably “Boy Suggest“, whose job is to snoop in on our conversations to get ideas for the next activity.
“What if tug of war yung next challenge?”
… Uy baka marinig ka ni Boy Suggest!

Hay. I’m pretty sure at least one of them has seen me in the bathroom.

I got over that too, eventually. Sorry / congrats / you’re welcome. Party pa rin!!! 🙂

3) What I really missed the most – the perfect lighting.

What else was left to do? Take. Shameless. Selfies. This time we got to use our own cameras, the type that doesn’t add ten pounds. Bwahahaha.

4) Walwal Time – SILA LANG

As much as I wanted to go all out that night, I had to save my energy because I had an early call time the next day. Same was true for most of the other housemates. 🙁 Nonetheless, we had a lot of fun!

Here are the rest of the pictures from my camera that night. I had to keep it safe in the girls’ bedroom as soon as the pool party started.

5) When it comes to PBB – never say never!

Every time I’m back for anything PBB related, I keep on thinking it will probably be the last, only to get surprised with another invitation soon after. Never say never, ika nga. I’ll be back one day, Kuya! I’m still convinced you were there partying with us that night. 🙂

That’s it for now! A lot of you are asking me to start vlogging as well, but I enjoy writing way too much to let this go. I’m thinking of sometimes incorporating my own video contents instead. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Suggestions would be appreciated! 🙂

PBB Lucky Season 7 Thanksgiving Dinner

Here’s a quick entry to share to you some moments from last week. We attended the appreciation dinner for the PBB housemates, creators, and staff, hosted by Mr. CLK, the ABSCBN President and CEO. It was also the first time the Dream Team was reunited in the outside world! Hellloooo guys!!! 🙂

pinoy big brother lucky season 7

LUCKY to have been given the chance to meet the big bosses of ABSCBN. MayWard at the back though! Hahaha!

Here are more pictures from my camera. Hover or click for the captions. 🙂

Regular Housemates Represent!

Come to think of it, all of my shining moments in PBB were shared with these people. They brought out the best in me for sure! Cora during Double Trouble Week (book smart LOL!), Tanner during the Big Jump Challenge (palaban me), and Kuya Ome who allowed me to be 100% myself throughout my whole stay.

I’m incredibly PROUD of everyone in this picture – all mature, reliable, witty, and determined individuals who just so happened to be very good looking and damn fun to be with as well. (Yes! Buhat pa ng bangko go.)  I love you guys and I’ll always be here to support! Thank you for sharing the whole PBB experience with me.

This Is Why They’re OUR Big Four

As much as I wanted at least one regular or celebrity housemate to join the Big Four, I also knew what everyone else knew – the teens DESERVE to be up there together. Click the individual pictures to know why. 🙂

Thank you guys for allowing me to be an Ate. As much as possible, I didn’t want to treat you as babies because you were “older” teens anyway. You guys proved me right. There’s a certain level of maturity and independence in all of you that inspired even the adults in the house. Congrats! You were there during the start and end of my stay, and I can say I really felt the difference. I’ll always be proud of you! 🙂

Next Post – Party Inside The PBB House!

As if this is the first time we partied in the house, right? The difference is we got to take selfies this time. See you on my next post! 🙂
