About To Finish My Internship

I was in the middle of my Pedia rotation last year when I got the confirmation that I’ll be an official PBB housemate. Obviously, I was going to take the opportunity, even if it meant having to repeat my whole internship year if I had to.

Luckily, I was allowed an indefinite leave of absence for my “once in a lifetime”. Our chief resident back then only had one advice.

“Just make sure to come back right away to finish your internship. Pass the boards and then you’re free.”

I saw her again today, and I proudly told her I’m here because of her.

That, as well as the deliberate pros and cons list my boyfriend helped me create, and the “in your face / real talk” I got from a known celebrity doctor that we reached out to.

I am very thankful for their guidance, and it is now more than ever that I appreciate being in this path that I chose.

“Strike while the iron is hot”, they all said.

The iron was NOT yet hot, that I know. My time will come.

For now, I’ve come full circle. My med school life is really about to end. I have two weeks left in my Pedia ER rotation and I’m off to study for the boards.

Packing my things! I’m moving to a study dorm in two weeks!

Three months of pure dedication, one last time, because I want to finish what I started. I will always, always owe it to myself to finish what I started.

Come March 2018, I’ll be free to do what I want.

Now, what do I want? I can’t seem to put it into writing yet.

I want to do a lot, but I also have this unstoppable feeling that I can also be a lot. A lot more than what’s expected, a lot more than what’s required. I guess that’s for another entry.
